. . . . I have
attended a few (3 elderly, 1 hopeless founder) and it is surprisingly
non-traumatic and gentler than you'd expect. If you've ever had to
have a cat or dog put down, it's very close to the same thing except
for the whoomph as the horse gets sleepy and decides it would rather
lie down than keep standing. (Sorry if this is TMI for some folks.)
With respect, it's not always as easy or peaceful as you describe.
<nod> It's true. I know of some real horror stories. In the best case, it
goes easily.
Vets have had Patrick hold heads high and push back to the rear as they go
down to have them sort of sit and then go to the side. <shrug> No thanks.
Not for me. I'd rather not be there.
