Re: Somewhat OT - kid playing guitar again & horse withdrawl meanderings

"Abby Kogler"
My youngest step, just graduated and accepted to Bard College, is as of
about two weeks ago *not* going to go to Bard, but is moving to Portland
with her guitar and her guitar playing boyfriend and their band. So thats
your future >;->

Nooooo. The music business is a hard life.

I hope she comes to her senses sooner rather than later. ;-)

I can only imagine how strange it is for you guys to look out and see an
empty pasture. Man.

I can send you a couple of mine >;->

All the years, and $$$, planting Kentucky Bluegrass for what? <sigh>

I would love to do summer grazing here for a couple of lay ups or rehabs or
horses that just need a break from the grind. We really have a super horse
friendly set up. They basically get ROH, groceries thrown at them daily and
tons of skritches with assorted garden tools. ;-) The barn [run-in] is a
dark, breezy clear-span with high ceilings. The exterior walls are slotted
throughout for maximum air flow. Stall mats over concrete allows it to be
kept pristine with routine washing. It gets the wind coming off the Gunks
from the west. Bugs hate it in there. :-) The field is a giant question
mark that surrounds the house. Horses can get one heck of a run going; up
and down hills as well. I can see them from every window and they're not
far from the house so I can hear what they're up to from all angles. I'm so
used to being eyes-on for so long. It's such a habit. Every time I pass a
window, I scan for a horse. I could watch them in the barn from all of the
windows on the west side of the house. We positioned the barn purposely for
indoor observation. There's not a weed to be seen in the fields. We mow it
and maintain it religiously. ... ... ...

Maybe I should post a flyer for summer grazing at the local feed stores...
<shrug> I dunno. That invites a whole other issue.

I guess I could take layups from the family farm so they can collect board
on box stalls for sound ones ... <shrug>

I'll figure something out.
