That stinks Cindi and I'm sorry for your boarder and for you.
Since I tend to keep horses well into their dotage I've been through
this.
And I can tell you, from my personal experience, if it's done right
it isn't that awful.
You have to be prepared - 800-1000 lbs of large animal going
down suddenly is a little traumatic.
But I can also tell you this - when you look into your heart you
know "This is right."
It's hard and you hurt and you even mourn but when you look
back on the decision, you will know it was the right one.
I have not gone through one euthanasia when I did not cry my
eyes out.
But I knew, even as I was crying, that it was right.
And there was peace in that thought.
MHO, you will get through it fine. It is our obligation to the animals
we have stewardship for.
My sympathies.... It is never easy but knowing that it is right - ah,
there is comfort there.
