I suffer horribly from both mosquito and tick bites. I'm allergic to tick saliva but both types of bites leave huge red welts that ooze serum.

First, I try a topical itch reducer and if that doesn't help, a dose (oral) of Benadryl (Diphenhydramine hydrochloride) works.

As for which topical, I rotate between them. For the kids, I buy bug bite band-aids which have the pads soaked in itch reliever or I make my own.
