In addition to the topics you mention, I would recommend how to lead
without getting stepped on and how to avoid being kicked. The single
biggest safety problem I have seen with greenhorns is putting their head
or
other body parts in the way of the horse's feet.

The single biggest safety problem I have seen with greenhorns is not
knowing how to safely handle a rope. No coils. NO coils. NO COILS.
EVER.

The number of times I've seen someone leading a horse with the
remaining lead rope neatly coiled and read to tighten around their
hand if the horse spooks... ARUGH.

I know a woman who lost her little finger anyway...horse flipped it's head
just so, a loop came up and lassoed her finger and popped it right off
(technically it
was still attached, sort of, but her and the doc both decided right away it
was a lost cause).

You can always get hurt, why compound the chances (like by looping a coil
around your hand...or waist...)
