My trainer just had a reacurrance of lyme last week. So bad couldn't get
out of bed, had to crawl to the bathroom. She's on antibiotics now, but
after two weeks got on her horse and new she shouldn't be up there. She
looks better and is walking better but still can't move her head to quickly
or she gets dizzy. Is this some of the things you experienced.
Yea, I still can't look up without losing awareness of what's up and
what's down. And I can't walk in the dark without falling down. I
can ride with reasonable safety, but galloping and jumping is a ways
off - can't process information quickly enough for that yet.
But I'm no longer falling down several times a day and bumping into
things and dropping everything I pick up. I can sleep most of the
time. I know what day it is, what year it is, and who the president
is. I don't find myself in strange places with no memory of how I got
there. I don't confuse dreams with reality. No more panic attacks,
no mood swings, no stopping at green lights, no depression.
Hematocrit and hemoglobin are back down where they belong. I can
breathe normally. I don't hear a cacophony of crickets and cicadas in
the winter in New Hampshire. Life is good. :)
Does your trainer have a Lyme-Literate physician she can work with?
Mainstream docs will usually only treat with 200 mg of doxy for 3
weeks. If she's having a recurrence of an existing infection, she may
need a lot more than that. See Dr. Burrascano's treatment guidelines:
http://www.lymenet.org/drbguide200509.pdf.
She can ask for a referral on the Lyme Yahoo list.

And, there's an herbal protocol that may be helpful. Stephen Buhner,
an author and well-respected master herbalist, caved in to requests
from Lymies to please write this book, and he obliged. It's
reasonable priced at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Healing-Lyme-Prevention-Borreliosis-Coinfections/dp/0970869630
There's a yahoo group that discusses the protocol.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lyme_Aid_Buhner/?yguid=221289005
And there's a website where people can ask questions, and Buhner
answers. Through this site, the protocol continues to evolve.
http://planetthrive.com/cgi-bin/members/pub9990215891170.cgi?categoryid=9990235248536
She would have to join, but it is free. Buhner also answers personal
emails, busy as he is.
And, on another controversial note, there are many who feel that heavy
metal intoxication is often involved in chronic Lyme (and fibro and
cfs and autism...), and may be one reason why some of us seem unable
to clear the infection, while others clear it more easily. So,
there's the whole dental amalgam thing. I'm getting mine yanked by
one of those http://www.iaomt.org/ dentists, and then chelating. I'm
hopeful that this will clear the last of the symptoms. We'll see.
It's all experimental. Those of us with chronic Lyme know we're a
bunch of guinea pigs, and frequently sign statements to that effect.
As Sharon says, pigs are important. :)
Take care,

tomorrow)
