Wow.

My farrier goes and fetches the horses from their stalls (but then,
he's been at this barn for a while and knows which one is which)

I guess I am REALLY spoiled! My farrier will get them out of the pasture in
return for not having to give us an exact time to be there. He says he
would rather have them out and limber while waiting for him, than put in the
stall for the day when he isn't sure what time he will make it. I try to be
down there when he comes but he does them alone a good bit of the time.

Gee my horse has me trained to be there for the shoeing and to give her
treats during the nailing. She is less demanding now then she used to
be. She used to have me trained to pay for a Vetrinarian to make a barn
visit at the same time as the farrier and give her drugs so she could
"relax" through it all.

Um why? It's really easy to teach one to stand for the farrier. Even
with a bad experience (like a nail that hurt) it just takes some
desensitizing with a hammer.

Dana (who's horses know they had better be more worried about what Mom
does if they misbehave than what the farrier is doing)
