I haven't checked in in a while. I'm so sorry to hear of all the
losses - Wilbur and Mikey and Nessie. My heart goes out to all of you.
I find myself at a bit of a crossroads. I have Lyme disease. It's not
all that big a deal. It's being treated, and I expect to recover one
of these days. The next 6 months to a year, though, may be
problematic. Treatment is not without side-effects, and the disease
itself can be a bit of a bummer.
Sorry to hear this, Nancy. My mom had Lyme I think i've mentioned and it
affected her badly (lost sight in one eye) because 25 years ago they didn't
know what it was, much. there's still an awful lot unknown but glad you are
getting good care and yes, it varies in how it effects people from one to
the next.
If you can work something out such as what you've been offered here (which
is so great) so that you can hold onto your horses for a bit, that would
seem ideal. It's hard to make a decision to give up something that is so
much a part of your life based upon what might happen in your physical
condition. Every day that goes by is another day there is another drug out
there, another chance for better treatment and maybe cure.
It's amazing what that little bug can do. And I think i am guilty of not
checking myself and my daughter enough after riding in warm weather. Really
we should all check ourselves head to toe every day after being on a horse.
Or in our backyards, for that matter. I've pulled a few off of me after
they've bit me. Negative for the lyme titer so far but who knows, even that
isn't entirely reliable.
I keep wishing that maybe with lyme so common now, our children and
grandchildren who are born from pregnant lyme-afflicted women will develop
immunities to the damn bug.
Best,
Jane
