For non-FEI, you can carry a whip, but not in championship classes. The whip
can't exceed a certain length. I had to cut a 1/2" off my lash to make mine
legal. For FEI, I don't know the rules.
At the recent championship show, a local trainer rode her best 3rd level
test ever, and forgot to drop her whip before entering. She was eliminated.
It was very sad, even though she should have known better, being a trainer
(open rider) and all.... Us amateurs can screw up like that and still be
forgiven:) But for someone who should know better, well, she felt REALLY
stupid.
