That is so cool! My horse gave me a big whicker on Sunday evening (my
riding schedule is sun, mon, tues, thurs) but she does not usually
whicker to me. I don't know why. We had jumped on Thursday (lesson day)
which she likes, and, I had given her a "massage" along her neck and
back which she thoroughly enjoyed. Or maybe it was because she had seen
people come and go Sat/Sun and missed "her person" since I did not
arrive until early evening? But it was a great feeling to be whickered
at! Hope it happens again...

I watch the trainer give a training ride to my horse and noticed that
she had more trouble with her moving around head and stiffening neck in
the trot than I do. I have my horse relaxing and stretching down now
and giving most of the time (because I realize I have to be extremely
light on her back). And I also realize that when she gets tense I have
to practically ask her to stop to get her to relax again and then I ask
her to move forward in the relaxed mode and she seems to "get it" and
makes happy sounds as she goes. While watching her with the trainer my
neck started to hurt because my horse was just so tense. This trainer
thinks I need draw reigns now. My horse has a better canter than trot
and she jumped nicely and the trainer worked on stopping her between
the combinations (this is where she rushes with me) so now I see what
needs to be done when she is not responsive. The trainer got her backed
off and steady she said that my horse should figure out that it is
easier to go steady to the second jump rather than rush it, that is
good.
