help

Hi
I'm new to woodturning . I enjoy making small bows 4-10 inches.
My problem is that I'm having a lot of problems with tear out.
I use mostly birch that is dry and spalted. The dry wood is not
as bad with tear out, but the spalted is difficult to say the least.
My tools are kept sharp, and I'm wondering if maybe using spalted
wood that has too much rot??? any tips or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Terry
