It does seem like too much yarn for one person (or even a modest group
of people) to use productively in one life time. But although I have a
very modest yarn and fibre stash by comparison I do understand the
collecting drive - if my vintage pattern collection is considered in
terms of patterns alone then I have way too many to possibly knit in
the time I have left to live. But that's not how I view my collection
- I see it (and use this line constantly to justify it to DH) as
preserving important social history.
