Hello all...
I joined the squares swap and Nora suggested that I introduce
myself to the rest of the group. I'm a 45 year old single mom (my son
is 12). We have a little family of four cats, China, Snowflake, Shadow
& Meteor. I work a full time job as an office manager/accountant for a
winery; and a part-time bookkeeper for a housing authority. I live on
Long Island (grew up and have lived here all my life), in New York.
I also volunteer as a firefighter/EMT.
In addition to quiltmaking, I enjoy sewing, cross stitching,
beading and knitting. I especially enjoy knitting in the winter
months. I would consider myself an advanced beginner. I'm
self-taught, after re-learning some of the basics that my 4th grade
math teacher taught me many moons ago. In progress right now is a
fisherman's shrug (Lion Brand pattern); and a Suede bag (Berroco
pattern). I've made dozens of scarves, a few felted bags and hats, and
several knitted caps. I aspire to making a pair of socks. I will be
attending several classes at my local shop. I took one last week. It
was on making flowers. The upcoming ones are for a shawl and some
basics such as "tassels, pompoms", "gauge matters", "kitchener
stitch"...etc.
Regards, Cynthia
