Here comes the lone voice of dissent again :-)
My husband and I got engaged and married at the courthouse a few weeks
later. It was just us and my son who was our witness. It was the
second marriage for both of us and we didn't want the whole big wedding
thing again. And, that included gifts and all.
Yes, people asked and we did say we didn't need anything. It was nice
to be believed.
A good friend would tell you if they are registered anywhere or if you
ask what they'd like will either tell you or tell you "nothing". Go
with it.
Having dinner together to wish them well is always nice though.

a day before New Year's Eve. This was a big suprise to so many for
various reasons which we don't get into. This being her 3rd marriage,
she got married at home with just her sister standing for her and her
new husband's son standing for him. No fuss, no bother, no invites.
We're friends that try to get together once a week - and I adore the
two of them, but am I expected to get a gift? I'm really confused
about this. This couple does not need a thing for sure - they are
both well off. What would you do?
