Thanks Barb. I hate to keep saying that none of these ideas will work or we've already tried them, but, the bird feeder is hanging from the overhang we have over our patio area. I don't know where they are jumping from - maybe this particular strain are long jumping squirrels!!

I have seen where sheets of metal were attached to circle the tree to keep squirrels from being able to climb to the top to get the nuts. Maybe this will work for you.
