"The Quilt" A History and Celebration of an American Art Form by Elise
Schebler Roberts with forward by Jennifer Chiaverini. Published by
Voyageur Press 2007. List price US $50.00, $60.00 CAN. Hardcover 349
pages.
The size, weight and lovely color photographs place this book in the
coffee table book category but the text is well researched. I have
often read in quilt history books that early quilted pieces were found
from ancient Egypt and Mongolia. Elise tells us in which museums these
examples can currently be found. It is that type of detail which I
appreciate.
This is a book you definitely want to ask for at the library. I also
suggest that you add it to your gift wish list. It is the type of book
you will enjoy rereading many times. When I first purchased the book I
read it thoroughly. It has been living on my coffee table for several
months and I enjoy "dipping into it" again during those rare moment of
relaxation.
