Re: getting desperate, need whatever you can give to ease the stress

Sending get-well vibes for lil Thomas! Hopefully they'll finally be able to
get some answers - AND a way to cure this thing that has him down. Hugs and
prayers are on their way!

No, this isn't a plea for material things, but prayers, good thoughts,
whatever you do. I've talked with my darling boy's doctor today and
he is stymied as to what is going on with my boy. All the tests have
come back normal, so medically, there is nothing that is causing him
to keep spiking fevers up to 105, getting better in 2 days, the sick
again in a week. He doesn't have the flu, they didn't retest him for
Mono, kidney, liver, all that is fine according to the bloodwork.
However, he is still sick and having lots of trouble staying upbeat
when he keeps getting so ill.

The doctor is referring him "across the mountain" to UVA hospital,
more specifically to their infectious diseases unit because they can
do more extensive testing than he or our local hospital can do. One
thing that we are going to do is make sure he is tested to make sure
his little body is not over-run by Candida bacteria since that is one
option given how many antibiotics he has been put on.

As a mom, I'm sobbing inside because it hurts to see my angel SO sick
and weak and not have any answers to give him. Outside, I'm trying to
be strong, but I know that I come across as being a bit of a hardass
sometimes. I try not to, but sometimes the frustration leaks out
without me being able to stop it.

In addition to Tomtom being ill, Ken is now sick, but he figures that
it's because he walked Brady outside wearing just his slippers and
fleece jacket. However, he also only has until May 8th to finish his
college class, and isn't really anywhere close to meeting that
deadline.

Back to Tom - because of his continual illness, the doc is writing him
a note to allow him to only attend school for half a day (mornings)
until we have some sort of answer about what is going on. The
principal said that she was willing to work with us because even she
is concerned about what is going on with Thomas. His reading teacher
said she isn't worried about him falling behind because he nearly
always gets above 90 on his tests. However, I'm going to see if he
can work with her a little bit before I pick him up. I think I will
probably pick him up at 1130 because that will let me get him then run
and get his sister from her preschool.

To try and clear things up, we are going to have a massive "field day"
at the house, thoroughly cleaning everything, including getting rid of
the couch in the family room, which I believe was left in my
grandmother's house while they took down the horse-hair plaster -
complete with the potential for having arsenic mixed in it....which
would explain why we always feel icky when we sit on it too long or
without it being covered.

So, that's what's going on at my house. I don't think I'll be
quilting for a while, and probably only posting once a week if time
allows. Love you guys

Larisa
