Re: OT: Dog Talk

Cool! Glad you are happy about it all.

A friend of mine has a rottweiler and whereas he is very big, he is also _very_ sweet. He'd rather lick your toes that look scary :-) And he even listens to a _very_ occasional visitor saying 'no' to him.

It's just a little past my 3 month anniversary of owning and operating
"Murphy's Paw". I'm having a blast! I truly believe I have the most
perfect job in the world. Dogs - 100's of them.......... sweet,
wonderful, beautiful dogs!
Here's what I've learned in my new venture:

1) Don't wear all black and expect to go home looking as fresh as a
daisy - you will look more like you spent the day with Sasquatch.

2) Even "water dogs" don't like to get a bath.

3) I don't like people who "man-handle" their dogs. I've only had one
- and I asked him if he would please let me take over and wash the dog
for him. She was sweet as could be - he hasn't been back. That's fine
with me.

4) When St. Bernards "shake" - their fur goes all over the room,
including the ceiling. They are, indeed, massive dogs, but very sweet.

5) If you have long hair, it's best to wear it in a pony-tail.......
all day.

6) There's a saying that goes something like "When you're getting too
big for your britches, try telling someone else's dog what to do" -
it's true.

7) Even the "scary" dogs - Pit's and Rott's - can be the most
endearing creatures - they just LOOK scary.

8) The laundry is rarely "done". I go through towels like crazy. The
washing machine and dryer are constantly going.

9) People truly love their dogs. One of my favorite things to do is
sit in the reception area and listen to owners talk to their dogs
while they're giving them a bath. It's lovely........... most of them
talk to them like children. And the love in the eyes of BOTH of them
is beautiful thing.

10) I love this job - I love the dogs - I love the people that love
their dogs............ I'm the luckiest person in Seattle.

Blessings to all of you,
