Re: newborns in need?

There is a group here (maybe a needle work group) that makes smocking "
dresses" for preemie funeral attire. That gift really touched me when I
first heard about it, I can picture the gratitude the parents feel in such
a sad time. Kayfl

Well then, Val, you just must go wander around the Newborns in Need
website too. It takes a while to see what / where the needs are.
Obviously, their staff is lots of volunteers rather than skilled techy
folks. I'm thinking I had to go to the quilts/patterns page to figure out
what would be helpful and if they had any rules as to size etc. They love
to receive tiny clothes, will even accept gently 'used' garments and need
burial layettes. Sewing the burial items certainly is a depressing sort of
venture but otherwise, those little angels who never breathe will be
buried wrapped in paper.
Trot around at their website and if you don't find the answers you're
needing, email me and I'll help. Polly

Ya know what's really sad? I used to do a lot of this type of sewing and
really enjoyed it. Then the different agencies and organizations around
here that I was sewing for decided for whatever reason they no longer
wanted hand made items...."send us money". There is only one shelter I
know of and sew for that still take home sewn baby and children's things.
I used to sew so many preemie layettes and other baby things, I really
miss doing that. :(

I work with them, Taria. Sometimes when I'm taking a break, I wander
around their website to see what they might be needing. For example,
recently, they said they did not need any preemie knitted caps so I
turned from that project and moved over to making little diaper shirts.
Did you have a question about them generally or what? Polly Esther

anything about these
folks?
