Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom comes in black. Hobbs 80/20 is my favorite batting, though I've never used the black. I'd be more concerned about the black batting affecting the color of the colored fabric than the light batting affecting the color of the black fabric, unless you're concerned with the batting bearding. I've never had any problems with bearding with the Hobbs 80/20. Bearding is more common with a polyester batting. If you want a polyester batting, Hobbs Polydown comes in black. I have used the white Polydown but not the black; it is a nice poly batting, very easy to handquilt.

Good morning everyone
As per the request of DD2, I have started a flying geese quilt in
using moda marbles. The geese are all in very bright colors, and all
the background is black. So I'm thinking of using a black or dark
batting so that the light batting will not alter the color of the
black fabric.
Which black batting do you recommend? Is there a cotton batting that
is darker? All I seem to be able to find is poly batting. I would like
the thickest possible batting, black or very dark in color. What are
your suggestions?
Thanks
Claudia
