Re: sewing machine woes

Anne, who in the world says you have to be an "award winning quilter" to
know when something's wrong with your machine??? Much less deserve a machine
that earns its keep???

And what in the world constitutes an award winning quilter (and don't say
"Duh! Awards!" either!!)?? Some of the most talented quilters I've ever
known have never entered any contest, much less won awards!! So ... phhhbt.
;)

Personally, if *I* were the dealer and you had issues with the floor
machine, too, *I* would assume it's the machine itself. Just because it
happened to you on both machines doesn't mean it's you!!!

Sometimes, and it's just as true with SMs as it is with everything else, the
design just isn't what it needs to be. Sometimes, too, boo-boos happen on
the assembly line. And sometimes, some things just aren't what they should
be.

But it certainly doesn't mean it's YOU. Okay? :)

In any case, stop blaming yourself, okay? And best of luck to you in getting
this sorted!!!

Warm quilty hugs!!

Okay- another question- I know this is a newly purchased machine you are
working with. Has this particular model (the exact model) been around
for a
few years? If it's something new on the market, it may have some tiny
design flaw that the repair person isn't even aware of. Maybe the
bobbin
case sits just a tad wonky/loose or some 'way out there' kinda thing???
BTW
Does this happen with a variety of threads? Needles? Are any
threads/needles skipping and shredding worse than others or is it
consistent
with any combination? More grabbing at straws here....

I don't know how new, I'd guess fairly new. I'm a little suspicious
about the bobbin too. It has happened with a variety of threads and
needles. The odd thing is, if you rethread, including taking the bobbin
out, it does seem to go ok for a few minutes, which is why I suspect the
bobbin and I am using the bobbins that are for the machine.

My husband said that the store manager had said he'd lend me the floor
model if we had to bring it in again, which would give me a chance to
try the same but different and see if it's my machine, or a design flaw.
My fear is that if I get the same problem on the floor machine,
they'll say it's me and though I know I'm not a perfect award winning
quilter, I know I can get my old Janome to do all these things and I
didn't spend all this money on a new machine to have it only work with
some combination of needle and thread that I haven't found yet!
