and it seems to influence how doctors practice even if you are not in a HMO, I just saw a surgeon this week, he does his surgery in a day surgery unit, he says he has never admitted anyone, I'd have been far less concerned if he said he admitted less than 1%. He brushed off my concerns about having attempted to have day surgery 3 times in the past and only managed it once and even then was discharged very late at night.
