Re: some questions about quilting

1. net bags for little pieces.
2. Doesn't your machine have a default stitch length when you turn it on?
Mine goes automatically to 2.5, and I usually reduce it to 2 for piecing.
3. Sew a scrap piece of fabric (use 2 layers) with a different color thread
top and bottom (but the same type of thread). Thread tension is correct if
you don't see little loops of the other color on each side. If top loops
appear on the bottom, tighten top tension. If bottom loops appear on top,
reduce top tension. The bobbin should mostly be left alone, although some
brave people fiddle with theirs -it requires a screwdriver, and IMO anything
like this is a slippery slope to bad language.

OK I am sure most of these questions were answered in my getting ready
phase but I honestly cannot find the answers to them, now that I need
them, and I saved everyone of those posts.

1. I washed my material today and it frayed really bad. I washed
like colors together. I had not washed any fabric until today and I
washed about 6 small to med loads of fabric. I spent at least 15
minutes on each load trying to get them untangled, what did I do
wrong? I still have about that many small loads to go before I have
it all washed but hey it is my first steps and believe you me they are
baby steps.

2. I remember reading this, but again I can't find the post. What
setting do I set my machine on for stitching. Mine is in mm which I
think most are and I have I think 1, 2, 3, 4 and maybe a 5 not sure
about that one. So to get so many stitches and inch which setting do
I use.

3. I know how to tell if the bobbin tension is OK but how can I tell
if the thread tension is wrong? Gosh, the more I work with this
quilting stuff the more I miss my mother. She was an expert
seamstress and then had me for a kid.

Thanks ahead of time,

Jacqueline
