Never thought of this before, but is it an idea to just go over a
precious siggy with a pen you know to be permanent, just in case this
happens. I find I need to go over my siggy a couple of times to make
the writing strong enough, so an extra time wouldn't show, and if the
original did wash out, no one would be able to tell.
That is really the only way to make sure that siggy blocks sent by
other people are permanent, and that you haven't got one from someone
who picked up the wrong pen.
Easy mistake - I looked in my diary today to check the time of a hair
appointment and the hairdresser's black pen she lent me had faded to a
barely legible cream - someone had obviously given her a pen with
disappearing ink.

It's a patchwork of siggie blocks, and one of the siggies ran like the
dickens. I'm sure I could wash the rest of it out and have it look
fairly decent, but I want to know what on earth I did wrong to not get
the ink to stay in the first place. It came from someone else, so I
have no idea what kind of ink was used...and I did iron the whole
thing, thinking that the heat would set in the siggies. Should I have
done something else?
I have another quilt top going together with siggie blocks on it, and
now I am afraid of those running too! Ack!
And ladies (and gents) please remember to use a pen that will not run
off the fabric when it gets wet. Not only is it a pain in the
backside, it is so sad to lose that precious signature and note that
you worked so hard on putting together for us!
Thanks for any advice you can give!
