Buying Thread online - NOT OT!

OK, I admit I'm getting spoiled by shopping online. I was searching eBay for
deals on threads and was wondering if anyone has had any good or bad
experiences buying sewing threads online. Any quality issues? I know that
thread can "age", expecially with the cottons. I also know that some threads
can be notoriously "dusty" leaving lint garbage all over the sewing place.
Some of the cottons I have seen are "nameless" so I don't know what I'm
buying - that's a little scary! I've been looking mostly for 100% cottons,
although I've seen a few deals on bulk Gutterman & Mettler polys. (Do polys
age?) I'm mostly looking for general purpose threads for patchwork piecing,
probably 50/3 on the cotton size. I do a little machine quilting on my
smaller tops also.
Any thoughts friends?
