Just wanting to do a happy dance with everyone here. Just finished the
binding on the "surprise" quilt for my DS's teacher. He will be so
surprised when we give it to him...the kids (third graders) have kept it
a secret from him for the entire year!!! It looks really cool, had each
student choose something to represent themselves...then they either
pieced a block (paper piecing was easiest), used transfer paper or
colored with fabric crayons...it is certainly as creative and unique an
object as the kids in the classroom!!! This quilt will also match a
pillow I made for the same teacher when these kids were in
Kindergarten!! (He got moved to third grade this year) Can't wait to
see the look on his face when he sees it!!!

Re: memory quilt for preschool teacher ... One of the most colorful and cutest children's quilts I ever saw was made with tangrams.... This quilt was made by a teacher to replicate the designs her students had made. ... I figure if you give each child a supply of the shapes in construction paper and have them make a design and paste it to a piece of paper, each child's design would be simple to replicate by piecing. ...
