Thanks! I've saved your help addresses.
And I like the new heading! :-)

I don't have an answer for you on the free email, but you might get some
with a changed heading. :)

Welcome to the world of Mac! Lots of us use them, so help is never far
away. Two tips I always offer to Windoze refugees -- first, always try to
think of the easy way to do things. Most former Windoze users try to make
it too hard. *grin* And Apple offers lots of help here
http://www.apple.com/getamac/ , here http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/ ,
and here http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/ .

DS was given a brand new Mac G4 Powerbook with lots of bells and
whistles. Though he's of the age of some computer whizzes, he hasn't been
all that interested up till now. He's been a casual internet and PC
user.
Here's the scenario. He's been using dial up AOL (yes, I can hear the
groans...but since he's had it for a long time...it was easier..and
cheaper to stay with it.) Now, he will be moving across the country with
this new laptop that has a wireless card (Airport) already installed. We
anticipate he will drop the AOL account in favor of a faster connection
after he's settled. I'm thinking he could get a free email account to
get started with the AOL phase out. What do you think? Is gmail a free
one like yahoo? Are there pros and cons to these? Do they have limited
ability to receive attachments?
Thanks for any information. And if you have any other thoughts on this
computer (our first Mac) and wireless internet tricks and tips...any and
all informtion is cheerily accepted.
Thanks!
