Re: Mastectomy over/OT/Pami

Pami, I'm glad you're home, but I really think that people are forced to
go home much too soon after surgery. Make believe that you're still
there and do absolutely nothing. Just lie back, take the pain meds as
often as you're allowed and sleep. Clutch a boo boo pillow to your
chest, that will help a lot when you roll over or (heaven forbid) cough.
Your body has been through a lot and sleep is the best medicine right
now. You mentioned that your tears sting, yes, that does mean you're
dehydrated. Drink as much water as you can and slather your face with a
really gentle moisturizer. I'm sorry, I don't know where you live, but
if the weather is dry right now, run a humidifier. Keep a cold wet
compress on your face and eyes. Eat light for the next few days, nothing
heavy or greasy. Ginger ale and fruit juices will help too.

I wish I could help with the mental anguish you're going through, I can
only imagine it, but I've had many surgeries and I know the above hints
will help with the physical aspects.

Keeping you in my prayers.
