okay, I have finally found the information and this is a condition that affects young children and not adults. Since my daughter is definitely not a child to anyone but me, the presence of the white pupil in the picture is not a sign of this disease. (and for anyone who is curious, the condition is called retinoblastoma, a form of childhood cancer)
