My vonage had 911 - caller ID - call waiting - all FREE.

: Another thing to think about--fees. There are fees to sign-up, $30, but
is
: sometimes waived, as well as fees to disconnect, which are anywhere
from
: $30-50 and a fee if you don't return the equipment, around $70. They
somehow
: neglect to tell you that. I agree with Kate. Go to the bare minimum on
the
: land line, then try www.lowermybills.com for good, cheap long distance.
That
: is how we do it, and use the long distance a LOT. Ours for this month
was
: $11, and we used like 400 minutes! Per cent, I think it is 3.5 for out
of
: state and 4 for in state. Our actual phone is like $30, but that is
because
: we have caller ID and call waiting. I understand about wanting to save
$$,
: as we are a one income family.
: Have you contacted your internet provider about phone service? I know
our
: cable company is getting a phone service atarted, and we will be
switching
: as it is cheaper and still on a landline, so 911 isn't an issue.
: Hope this all helps!
