I have tried the kind thing Polly. I would have thought that would have worked. My old UPS guy Charles (been 3 years and I still remember him) was so efficient and nice. He liked my apricot jam and it was nice to be able to let him know how appreciated he was. He moved up to the big trucks when his knees gave out : ( Fed Ex and postman here are great.
This guy won't even tell me his name, didn't when I moved here and he
hadn't even had a conversation with me. Go figure.

Little did we know when we moved to the Swamp that we would have to tame a few wild things. Teaching the gators to fetch the newspaper was a piece of chicken. The mail carrier and garbage truck guys were quite another matter. Honestly, the trash guys would take out trees, shrubs, culverts and fences coming in. We could have lived with that but when they turned the truck around, they would hop out and use the area behind the truck for a toilet. Not acceptable. I knew anger was not going to be effective so I shamed them instead. When they started into the Swamp, I would go out and ask them friendly questions like was there a local honey farmer around and where was the most convenient place (to them) for us to set the dumpster thing.
The mail carrier was a total hostile bully. She still won't be kind to any package marked fragile or perishable but at least she's quit backing her truck over them after she hurls them out the window. Try being very kind to your UPS guy. It might help. Polly
