We used to have a post office like your western one Polly. Used to be a
pleasure to go in and funnily enough, whenever you needed them (be it
earlier or later) they were always open and it was never too much trouble.
They had a gorgeous old spaniel in their who'd sleep behind the counter and
come out to get her ears scratched.
Now, it's all upmarket, and 3 separate counters instead of the one bench and
all "Can I help you" instead of "Hi how are you" and the minute you pay you
are out the door
