Whatever works. Often it's YLI or SewArt invisible on top, and cotton to
match the backing in the bobbin. I like using variegated cottons, the way
that parts of the quilting design appear and disappear according to how
closely that section of thread blends in. But even with cotton on top,
there's no need to use the same in the bobbin, unless the backing is the
same color as the top. (I don't like invisible on the back, and winding
bobbins with it is a pain.) Are you having tension troubles?
