I use AVG on all my systems -- the free version. Are they not offering it
for free anymore? Ah yes it takes a bit of poking around to find the url for
the free version:

Hrmm even the purchased product which is $38 is for a 2 year license. If
they ever drop the free version, this is the one AV I would be willing to
pay for, TTBMK it has never done anything weird to my system and doesn't
appear to add a lot of overhead. I can't the same for several others that I
paid for and used -- and then managed to get rid of :-)
First thing I do every morning when I sit down at the computer is to run an
AV update.
