I do cut my girls' claws. It isn't always easy though, and I always err on the side of caution. In theory, you hold the little feet and look carefully to see where the blood supply comes to in each nail. Then you cut beyond that.
I did make one of mine bleed once (black claw), but she didn't hold it against me. I felt dreadful though. Little and often is the safest. Vets sometimes do it wrong too! Those with dark coats and very dark claws are the worst. My little blonde girl is much easier!
I just sit mine on my lap and gently pull the feet, one at a time, from the side. Remember to count the claws as you do them, so you'll know when you are done. Front feet have one more >g<

What about claws? Has anyone ever tried to clip a guinea pigs nails? Squeaky's nails are way too long but DD just finally got her to put up with having a "bath" much less having her feet messed with.
Any suggestions there?
