Personally, I give the names of places I have had good experiences with along with the bad experiences. I had a ton of trouble with som flooring and I always tell people the name of the place just to make sure that they NEVER use them.

On June 19, I place 2 orders with 2 different vendors. I was making a quilt for my mom's 75th birthday (I've posted pics of it in progress - it's the Sword Dance WIP), and wanted to get working on it as soon as possible. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it out to a store for several days (it was a busy week), so I ordered online.
The first store, www.bearpawquilting.com , was a new vendor for me, but they had the wide bleached muslin I wanted, so I took a chance. I had my order 3 days later. The fabric was exactly as I expected and came quickly - what more could you ask for? Well, I also got a cheery note thanking me for my business, and a little pack of tissues with a quilt design on the wrapper!
The second store (my husband has asked me not to mention them by name in this public forum) was a completely different story. Four days after I placed my order, I got notification that it had shipped, and gave a tracking number. When I tried to track it, the shipper had no info listed at all. A day and a half later, I was able to track the package, and learned that it would be another 6 days before it arrived. (Meanwhile, the other fabric was washed, pressed and cut.) This was too long to wait - a total of over 10 days. So I called to try to cancel the order, and was told at that time that since part of my order was a sale item, I'd have to wait for it to arrive, take out the sale fabric, and ship the rest back.
Unhappy with this option, I emailed the owner and explained how dissappointed I was that their slow shipping had caused such problems. I received an answer saying that the entire shipment could be returned. On July 24th (over a month from the original order), I received email notice of a credit to my account, but it was $12 less than the original amount. When I asked about this, I was told I was charged a re-stocking fee of 15%. The math still didn't add up, as 15% of the purchase amount didn't come to $12. Again, I sent an email, asking for a refund. This whole mix-up was due to the unacceptable shipping time, and in my opinion, I shouldn't be penalized for this.
On July 29th, I was credited another $5.95, for shipping. Since I don't think I'm getting any more blood from that turnip, I guess the matter is settled. I will not be shopping from that company any time soon.
