Do we have anyone in the danger zone? Please check in if you are.
Karen C. How thick is the air in Sacramento? Still breathable, or do
you, too, have to stay inside all day?
Please report in, we care.

My hiking group hiked on the Oregon/California border yesterday and
the air was VERY SMOKEY from the fires in the Trinity/Shasta Forest
fires, and possibly from those near Chico also. We were up around
4,000 to 6,000 feet in elevation and the smoke was thick enough that
we couldn't see across small valleys and people with contacts were
noticing irritation from the smokey air. The clothes I had on the
line yesterday didn't smell smokey this morning but the smoke higher
in the canyon was obvious as I drove up the driveway. I half way
expected to hear that there had been a local fire but it is all being
carried to us by winds from the south.
The daughter of one of our EGA members lives in Paradise and those
fires missed her by less than a mile. There used to be a Ruth who
posted from Happy Camp. She may have fires too close for comfort in
her area too.

P.S. Has anyone seen the advertisement from the "Flood Smart" people
showing the woman sitting on her couch stitching while her living room
is slowly being flooded? I sent an email and a very nice lady (also a
needleworker) is going to try to find more information for me on
exactly what the woman in the commercial is stitching. She said that
my question was a first and that most people want to know what music
is playing in the background. :-))))))
