Re: OT: For those of you who loved the 60s

Yes, it was a time of ignorance and that perpetuated the innocence.
Remember, we were just beginning to get 'up to date' news on our TV's and it
was really on the evening news programs that we saw the footage. Now we see
news events literally as they're happening and from anywhere in the world
and with the internet we can find any information we need instantly! It's a
much different time. It's almost unimaginable how really ignorant we were
then.

You can say the 60s were an innocent time. I tend to think of it more as
ignorance and I can't see that it was better.

OK. . . I didn't view it as 'crap'. Yes, if we look at it with today's
viewpoint, we tend to think we've righted a lot of wrongs since then.
But I sometimes wonder if we really have. I graduated in 1964 in Texas
from a segregated school; but prior to that I attended an integrated
school in California. I did the whole surfing thing, we lived in Santa
Barbara. I married in 1967 and my husband was in the US Army. He was
sent to Washington D.C. to help quell the riots after Dr. King was shot.
We've come a long way, but we still are trying to get it right with civil
rights and race.
As for the unwed pregnancy thing; my daughter is a nurse and works in the
post-partum (new mothers and babies) area of a major hospital in San
Antonio, TX. They only occasionally see a married couple having a baby,
almost all are not married. Somehow, I don't think that's better than
the '60s. I certainly don't know all the answers, but in that era
society had rules and expectations. Now, it seems there are no rules and
we're not shocked at anything. Yet we hear 'family values' all the time,
but what has happened to our families? The '60s were a very innocent
time and I think the video reflects just that. Now, we know better, and
just look at us.

The URL produced a 404 error (not found) when I tried it just now (7:30

Eventually found it at

Yes, that's it. Brat is right, the last page is rather like those
net things that come round saying "I survived being a child who was
not strapped in a car seat" ~ while it is true, it wasn't necessarily
good or justified. Music was nice though lol
