New punch needler - need help deciding

Hi all,

Hoping you can help me. I haven't done punch needle before, but have
conquered knitting with 4mm needles and 20mm; crochet; long-stitch;
cross stitch and latch-hooking. I'm 25 and disabled so am certainly
looking for a new hobby in front of the TV every night. In Australia
it's VERY cold at the moment so having a cosy hobby would be nice. I'm
wanting to do traditional punch needling -- not Russian or Bunka,
whatever those are.

I've read up some and have a good idea what I want to do, but am
confronted by the issue of what needle would best suit what I want to
do. The choices are the Cameo 3 set or the Luxor 5 set -- or any other
that one of you may recommend.

I'd like to make punch embroideries in polyester cotton (sewing
cotton), acrylic yarn (for punch needling) and up to 5mm ribbon. At the
same time, I want my stitch length to have variables. I'm wanting to do
flat and textured designs and images.

How is the stitch length changed on the Luxor 5-sets? How many lengths
are there? I noticed on the Cameo that it has 12 settings. Is it worth
having the 12, or is 6 enough?

If I buy the Luxor 5-set, will the largest needle be big enough for
3-5mm ribbon?

The brands I'm looking at are:
Cameo
Luxor
Purr-Fect
Pretty Punch
Dee Lite
O-so-Ezy
Super Luxo
(Manual models. I want to do all the work for myself!)

I have already worked out what yarns, cottons, hoop, and designs I'd
like to make, but would like help in solving this important query. I
rather get it right the first time and not have to buy another.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Miss. S. BG.
