She's there as an Ambassador. If you read the paper other than the
Star and TV Guide, you'd know that. She has her own doctors there
with her, treating the children in the villiage she and Brad are
trying to serve.


And wouldn't she be getting paid to be this Ambassador by the
Government? Why in heaven's name would they pick her as an Ambassador
other than the fact that she's considered beautiful and married to
Stick Pitt ... why wasn't the job offered to me? :-))

The job wasn't offered to you because you don't have privileged access
to the media. Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN, so is not paid
by any government and I would be surprised if the UN remunerates her in
any way either. The point of her position and of her trip to Namibia is
to use the fact that the media follow her to draw attention to the
situation of refugees in countries across the world.

And Sharon, I don't mean to accuse you of being sexist, but her
relationship to Pitt has nothing to do with her ambassadorship. Her
position predates her relationship. She got there all on her own.

I didn't really know if these *Ambassadors* got paid or not - now I
know. I realize that she had that job before Brad and that the
beautiful people really can raise money and concern for such causes -
it's a good thing for sure. I was just making a half-assed joke about
no job offer for me - really I was. :-))
