Jet 5x6 bandsaw (HVBS-56M)

Well, I got tired of cutting metal all crooked with a hacksaw and bought a HVBS-56M today at Farm and Fleet.

First, it tips the scale at 115 pounds. If it only had blue eyes...

Bandsaw "arm" is nice and chunky.

The plastic clamshell belt cover is cheesy.

The table is refreshingly light.

The instructions, though in passable English, SUCK. Thankfully, most is pretty straight-forward, EXCEPT the two hinges that you adjust the motor angle with. Easiest way to tension the motor after installing the belt is to put the saw in the vertical mode so the motor hangs down from it's own weight. Now tighten the carriage bolt holding the two hinges together. QED.

The illustration for the adjustable feet takes some interpretation. The picture is hard to make out. Eventually, you will decide to run a nut down the bolt. screw it into the leg, put on a washer, and another nut.

The cross shaft for the wheels is underwhelming. The shaft diameter is the same as the wheel's bore, put a washer on both sides of the wheel, pop it on the shaft, slide the split pin through it, and wa-la. No leg to leg fastening. If I get really excited, I'll get some round stock a bit larger than the bore, turn and thread it over bore size so I can tighten the legs together, and urn the end to bore width.
