Great! Could you put up a closer shot of it? We've got a
couple of cats, and perhaps I should make something like that.

When I was a kid -- I had three ducklings (you can guess what a
kid would name three ducklings. :-) Two of them made it to adulthood,
the third proved why a duck should not cross the street. The adults
were then taken back to the farmer who had supplied the ducklings
originally.

i've been trying for the past 2 or 3 days to upload this picture to my
webspace, called the tech people twice, i think in the end i just had too
much stuff in it already. pretty aggravating/frustrating.

Thanks. That gives me a good idea what to try for. I guess
that I'll have to soft-solder the whiskers, because I don't have a
welder, yet.

i was lying in bed the other night wondering "what WOULD a kid name three
ducks?!" all i could come up with is "huey louie and dewy"? aren't they
ducks?

Exactly. I never did figure out which had which name, except
that Louie was the last in the way I remembered the sequence from the
comics, so that must be the one which had been hit.

the way i would've interpreted that event was not that ducks
shouldn't cross the road but that there are a bunch of hassoles out there
who should slow down more often.

Agreed! The road was a dirt and rock road in the town. It was
regularly hit by a road grader, so it kept getting lower and lower
relative to the property on either side of it. The one at right
angles to it had a drop of about two feet from the sidewalk (also
unpaved) to the road. (It made for problems with the fire hydrants
getting totally unburied. :-)

But the cars still came along that fast from time to time --
trailed by a cloud of red dust. (South Texas town.)

my ducks seem utterly fascinated with the mud puddle in my neighbor's
(across the street) driveway. (even though they've got a 100' wide pond here
in our yard) when it rains they're over there having a grand old time.

Any chance that they are going after insects in the water to
supplement their diet of grain? Such a puddle would bring out lots of
worms among other things.

it
really pisses me off because jerky drivers blast past them as if there's no
way they might jump out into the street in front of the car. i go across
the street and open and close an umbrella. our ducks are TOTALLY freaked
out by umbrellas, they all take off in a fast run/ground effect flight
across the lawn and back to the safety of the pond.

Interestingly enough -- many things, including vicious dogs, can
be frightened by an umbrella pointed directly at them opening. It looks
like it is getting closer very fast, given how fast it is getting
larger. :-)

apologies to all for going on about my ducks.

I like it, at least. And you have some metalworking in there as
well -- the cat now, and the trash can coral before.

(the cat design probably copyrighted by the french company i mentioned in a
previous post, it's not my own original design.)

It is good enough for me to try my hand, once I pick up some
galvanized steel of the right size. I like the effect of the light
shining through those "eyes".

Thanks,
DoN.
