kid would name three ducklings. :-) Two of them made it to adulthood,
the third proved why a duck should not cross the street.
He didn't know how to duck.
and never really knew they were ducks. Since we lived on a small lake,
it was common for me to take my duck for a swim, one full grown duck,
not familiar with tradition, damned near tore my arm off as we got
close to the water's edge, he never did learn to swim.
Another occasion, the old hen hatched four ducklings in early June.
Next day we took them out on the lawn and I put down a bread pan of
water, the poor old hen became very upset when her offspring proceeded
to go swimming! She soon became accustomed to their strange behavior.
