While this may work for some machines, I would do more with top heavy
machines..like lathes, mills, drills and bandsaws.
They need to be mounted on OVERSIZED pallets to broaden their
footprint and then secured to the sides and to the floor as mentioned.
Over the years I have seen a number of lathes and mills tipped over in
enclosed trailers...they are not fun to reset within the enclosed
space of a box trailer..
I got to thinking about this, the wooden floors, and
*general* lack of solid anchor points and think I *might*
have come up with an idea in place of tie-down straps.
What about nailing/screwing the pallet to the deck, and then
strategically jamming/placing 2x4's in appropriate places on the
machine, while nailing/screwing the bottom of the 2x4 to the floor.
Thoughts?
And what are load locks, exactly?
Would those work for rigging mills and lathes inside a box?
Thanks~!
