Engelhardt <bobengelhardt@xxxxxxxxxxx> quickly quoth:
From the USPS web site:
"All mailboxes must be approved by the United States Postal Service®.
Custom made mailboxes will be approved by the Postmaster if they meet
established standards."
This is probably one of those "Don't ask, don't tell" things that won't
be a problem. Unless you have a chicken-*** postman and postmaster.
Around here, we have rotating mailpeople because one or more of them
is always sick, on vacation, or out of town.
Back in CA, I had a Postal Nazi type sub one time for the regular guy
and cause trouble because the city hadn't put a post in the sidewalk
for my mailbox. It remained on my grassy side and the usual guy jsut
drove on the sidewalk to deliver. (It's a bloody Jeep, fer chrissakes.
Ain't no big thang, y'all.) The postNazi complained that it wasn't to
USPS Regulation height and position.
In the end, the city said "Stuff it. Let the USPS pay for a new walk
slab with mailbox post." The USPS finally dropped it and continued to
deliver on my sidewalk. It became a "Don't ask, Don't tell" thing.
Anyway, that's a pretty nice metal mailbox, damnear a USPS dropbox
size, eh? I just wish he'd paint it. That gray primer is BFU. ;)

Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight
very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands.
It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.
