Re: THE TOP 10 MOST DANGEROUS U.S. CITIES REPORT :

I guess folks at the upper end of the pay scale are getting a free ride.
Surely, it couldn't be things like education, hard work, initiative,
creativity, ability, motivation, skill, brainpower, persuasiveness, desire
and charisma that enabled them to move up the food chain of success...

In a fantasy world that is how it would work. That isn't how things work in
reality. Everyone doesn't get what they deserve. In fact, many times the
people least deserving get everything. It's like, the world isn't fair. Good
example is Bush, do you really think he got to be president because of his
exceptional abilities or was it something else?

When are you going to learn the jobs in this country are not a God given
right. Generally speaking, people are paid what the market demands. The
more you have to offer the more you get back. Why should the guy who
welds
pipe all day presume that he is as valuable as the guy who manages 100 of
the people who weld pipe? The economic reality of the two positions is
that
the manager creates far more wealth for his company than the welder.
That's
not to say that the welder is any less important to getting the job done,
he
just doesn't have the same impact as the other guy.

There are no god given rights to anything, rights come from man's laws.
Different kinds of labor deserve different kinds of pay. It's the scale that
is the problem. Some people get millions for nothing and others get nothing
for a day's work. That is the problem.

The moral of the story is do the best job you are capable of, educate
yourself, be motivated, have the desire to better your circumstances and
you
too can move up as far as your abilities will take you. Or, sit back,
bitch
and moan that someone else has more than you, continue to do nothing about
it, and watch everyone around you get richer while you continue to
struggle.

Working hard and doing one's best is nice, and no one is going to be against
a platitude like that. But you make it sound like the people living on the
wrong side of the Berlin Wall were just whiners. People ought to complain
when they are getting a raw deal and these days it seems that most Americans
are getting just that. Besides that, if it was so easy to simply work hard
to get ahead there would be a lot more people in the upper class.
