They are neither backwards, nor arab as most think.

They are run, however, by a fairly lunatic theocracy at the moment.

I wonder how things would have turned out had we not removed their
legal gov't years back, and put the shah in? (the gov't talked about
nationalizing the oil industry, and we got the shah in there quicker
than you can say 'cia coup d'etat').
