You bring up some interesting points.

It's really unfortunate you top-posted this whole thing because it
really fucks up trying to quote with context.

First off, I'm not making nor have I made any claims about finding weapons
of mass destruction, I don't believe that mustard gas or sarin gas fit the
description of weapons of mass destruction.

Here begins the tap-dance. How...expected.

Neither of them can be used to
destroy anything, obviously they can be used to kill but in relatively small
numbers and only under very controlled circumstances. When I and I think
when most people think of WMD, we're thinking nuclear weapons, missiles,
cluster bombs, things of that sort.

Funny, I thought that, until these were found, the definition was
"nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons".

I could be wrong but I don't think that
poison gas, particularly mustard gas qualifies. If I'm wrong, that's fine.

You'll define it whatever way suits your needs, obviously. It's
interesting though - what were you saying, I wonder, when there were the
"we think we found residue - oh never mind, it's not really Sarin"
incidents were happening? Were you saying "See, you were wrong", or
were you saying "Hey, wait just a damn minute, even if you were right
that wasnt' WMD in the first place"? Because I never saw _anyone_ make
that second point at the time. Which leads me to believe that people on
the left are redefining the term when the facts are inconvenietly
against them.

We all know what the administration was trying to do, they lied about the
seriousness of Hussein's weapons capability, just as they lied about the
effectiveness of his army in the first Gulf war.

Really. So quotes like from Kerry, Clinton, Kennedy, Clinton, Gore, and
so on (please tell me I don't have to post them YET AGAIN) where they
talked about SH's WMD programs - were they wrong, or just lying?

Some might call that parsing, that's fin too. If the administration had gone
to the american public and simply claimed that Hussein possessed mustard and
sarin gas munitions then we and congress could have made a better, more
educated decision as to whether to support the subsequent invasion. They
didn't do that, they brought up "mushroom clouds" and imminent threats and
other nonsense.

Can you show me a "mushroom cloud" quote? I don't recall that one.
The justification _I_ heard, (I was paying attention) was that the goal
was to keep SH from teaming up with OBL because that would really suck.
Your people made all those comments about WMD, and now you and your kind
are pretending they didn't, and that the WMD was all Bush's fault.

You know what? Disagree with Bush for the things he did, but pretending
this was his idea alone is not just wrong, it's dishonest.

As for hiding weapons, obviously things can be hidden, what's more curious
is that no one has publically come out and shown where any of this stuff was
hidden.

Um, that's what _hidden_ means, you see.

One might think that given the large number of former Hussein
cohorts who would be in a position to know such things, who have a vested
interest in helping the U.S., at least one of them could point to an actual
location.

I wonder how we found out about this batch?

Instead we get one guy on a book tour who can't or won't get
specific about any such weapons. He claims that there were large convoys of
trucks, hundreds of them trundling off to Syria carrying all sorts of nasty
bits. Where's the evidence?

Why should they tell you? Do you want to know the names of all our
spies too?

Even the Pentagon has admitted that no weapons
as described by the administration exist in Iraq.

Given your interpretation of everything else in this thread, I don't
suppose you can provide, you know, a cite to their statement that you
are mischaracterizing?

This war was never about weapons of mass anything, it was and remains about
money. Money for the contractors who's profits have soared, money for the
oil producers of OPEC who no longer have to deal with an admitted whack job

yeah ok fine. So tell that to all your democrats who voted to authorize
it then. Oh wait, you only want to blame the _other_ side of the
aisle. Your selective memory is disgusting.
