Hi All,

I am going to package all of this up to keep all of the nasty grinder
gak out of the electronics, etc. I am going to just run a small remote
box to the front of the machine for on-off, fwd/rev control. My question
is this: Is there any reason to have a variable speed control on a T&C
grinder?
The only thing I can think of which that might be useful for is
to maintain a constant surface speed at the rim of the wheel as it wears
down.
For that matter -- I would be reluctant to add the remote
switching to enable running it in reverse. Normally, the spindle nose
has a thread such that load will tighten the nut (at least so on my
little Sanford surface grinder), and running in reverse increases the
chances of a loose wheel chasing you around the shop. :-)
Enjoy,
DoN.
And for (insert diety of your choice) sakes.... program the thing to
NOT exeed the rated current motor RPM.. Slower yes..faster..and you
may exeed the rating of the grinding wheel..which turns it into a
single plane fragmentation grenade.
