Thinking back further, they had given me a wristwatch with a clear back,
so I could see all the gears, the spring, and the escapement. No idea
if anyone even makes such a thing these years. If you find one, let me
know, because I'll buy two.
It starts out as being something cool to look at (the gears were
colored), and eventually, if the kid has the right kind of mind and/or
prompting, the questions start to form and be asked.
